Microsoft still expresses satisfaction with its Windows Vista operating system. “From the Vista point of view we are actually really quite happy with the progress that we have made with it,” stated Elliot Katz, product manager at Microsoft Canada.
“There are many, many things that point to success of Windows Vista, not least of which is over 100 million licenses of Windows Vista that have been sold.
“Windows Vista was longer than usual in the development cycle than what we typically have in an operating system. But the changes that were put in place [specifically in security] were very significant,” Katz explained.
Nevertheless, many of these licenses sales have occurred in the consumer market where only Windows Vista PCs can be bought in retail outlets, commented Darin Stahl, lead analyst at the Info Tech Research Group.
